For God so loved the "Good" Kid
John 3:16 Series
One of the most powerful witnessing tools in any Christian's arsenal is their testimony. A testimony is your personal story of how and when you encountered Jesus Christ, how He saved you, and how He is changing you. I love to sit through a good testimony service. I love to hear stories of how God transforms drug addicts, alcoholics, gamblers, thieves, liars, and even murderers.
Without fail, whenever someone stands up and gives a powerful testimony of how God has saved them, I inevitably end up having a conversation that goes something like this:
"Man, that was powerful. You know, I always wished I had a powerful testimony."
This statement often comes from people who I know love the Lord and have been used mightily by Him. They were raised by Christian parents who loved them and introduced them to the Savior from a young age. They were often baptized as children and have grown in holiness their entire lives.
If this is you, I want you to know that you have a powerful testimony. You have a wonderful testimony.
The Bible is quite clear that we are all born in sin: "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me" (Psalm 51:5). Whether you were rescued from a life of deep rebellion or were graciously preserved from it, your testimony is a story of God’s saving power. Every salvation is a miracle. Every transformed heart is evidence of His grace.
A testimony is not powerful because of how dramatic it sounds but because of the God who works in it. If you have known Christ from a young age, your testimony is one of God’s sustaining faithfulness. If He has kept you from the devastation of sin, that is a testimony of His great mercy. If you have wandered and been brought back, that is a testimony of His relentless pursuit.
Never downplay the work God has done in you. Your story matters, not because of what you have done but because of what He has done. Whether your testimony is one of radical transformation or lifelong faithfulness, it is a testament to the goodness of God. Share it boldly, knowing that every work of salvation glorifies Him.
The bible is clear "none is good, no not one."(Romans 3:10) But for even those that the world deems as good Jesus laid down his life to give them eternal life.
